Depuis le Super Bowl XLVI, les questions concernant la prochaine retraite de Coughlin n’ont cessé de réapparaître et c’est bien normal étant donné qu’à 66 ans, Tom Coughlin est le plus vieux head coach de la NFL.
Ce dernier a volontairement évité de donner une réponse précise mais pour Terrell Thomas, son coach prendra sa retraite après la saison 2013:
“I think he has one more in him. We have a great nucleus of guys, and I don’t think he wants to give that up. That passion is still burning within him. He’s in that facility all day every day; he’s going crazy not being able to coach and watch film. He lives and breathes football. He has everybody in there all day, every day, in the offseason.”
Selon le cornerback, Tom Coughlin souhaiterait partir avec les honneurs et quoi de mieux qu’un 3e Super Bowl à la tête des Gmen à New York?
“I think he wants to go out on top. Hopefully, we can get it right, and bring a Super Bowl home in Giants Stadium.”
Bien entendu tout cela n’est probablement qu’une supposition sans aucune base sérieuse car rien n’indique que Coughlin ait partagé une telle idée avec un joueur car cela pourrait avoir un effet négatif sur l’équipe.

Cette rumeur de Cowher traîne en effet depuis quelques années maintenant. Il a 55 ans donc un retour en NFL n’est pas exclu en effet.
